The Metricon Geelong project centered around developing a new office and display studio, representing a complex challenge that showcased Akt. Project Management’s expertise as industrial construction consultants, and in retail design management and industrial construction design management. Our task was to source a prime location for the new office and display suite, equipped with support warehousing and car parking to ensure efficient business operations. This objective required a strategic blend of property portfolio advisory and construction project delivery strategy acumen.
Key challenges included defining, negotiating, and managing base building integration works under the Agreement For Lease, which demanded rigorous project feasibility and due diligence consulting. Integrating and managing client supplier agreements with the design team and Head Contractor was crucial, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which presented unprecedented global challenges such as resource shortages and supply chain disruptions.
In response to these challenges, our approach involved meticulously sourcing a head contractor that met all operational requirements and overseeing the integration of base building works into the overall project plan. We worked closely with all stakeholders to ensure the project aligned with Metricon’s vision and standards. Our proficiency in industrial warehouse construction services ensured that every aspect of the project was handled with precision and expertise, leading to the successful delivery of the new office and display studio.
The new office and display studio for Metricon Geelong is a testament to Akt. Project Management’s capability to deliver exceptional results in the face of complex challenges. We achieved major savings through the strategic integration of base building works and a National FF&E and Finishes Procurement Strategy across three national Metricon projects.
Our innovative strategies significantly increased efficiencies, addressing the resource shortage due to COVID-19. This ensured the project’s timely completion while maintaining the high standards expected by Metricon. Our expertise in identifying and maintaining focus on quality design outcomes ensured that the balance between high-end retail and efficient workplace design was achieved.
